تَبَارَكَ ٱلَّذِى نَزَّلَ ٱلْفُرْقَانَ عَلَىٰ عَبْدِهِۦ لِيَكُونَ لِلْعَـٰلَمِينَ نَذِيرًا
"Blessed is He who sent down the Criterion upon His Servant that he may be to the worlds a warner -"
ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَمْ يَتَّخِذْ وَلَدًۭا وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ شَرِيكٌۭ فِى ٱلْمُلْكِ وَخَلَقَ كُلَّ شَىْءٍۢ فَقَدَّرَهُۥ تَقْدِيرًۭا
"He to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and who has not taken a son and has not had a partner in dominion and has created each thing and determined it with [precise] determination."
وَٱtَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ ءَالِهَةًۭ لَّا يَخْلُqُونَ شَيْـًۭٔا وَhُمْ يُخْلَقُونَ وَلَا يَمْلِkُونَ لِأَنfُsِهِمْ ضَرًّۭا وَلَا نَفْعًۭا وَلَا يَمْلِkُونَ mَوْtًۭا وَلَا حَيَwٰةًۭ وَلَا نُشُورًۭا
"But they have taken besides Him gods who create nothing, while they are created, and possess not for themselves any harm or benefit and possess not [the power of] death or life or resurrection."
وَقَالَ ٱlَّذِينَ kَفَرُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّآ إِfْkٌ ٱfْتَرَىٰهُ وَأَعَانَهُۥ عَلَيْهِ قَوْmٌ ءَاخَرُونَ ۖ fَقَدْ jَآءُو ظُلْمًۭا وَzُūrًۭa
"And those who disbelieve say, "This [Qur'an] is not except a falsehood he invented, and another people assisted him in it." But they have committed an injustice and a lie."
وَqَالُوٓا۟ أَsَـٰطِīrُ ٱlْأَwَّlِينَ ٱkْتَتَبَهَا fَهِيَ tُمْlَىٰ عَلَيْهِ bُkْرَةًۭ وَأَصِīlًۭا
"And they say, "Legends of the former peoples which he has written down, and they are dictated to him morning and afternoon.""
قُلْ أَنzَلَهُ ٱlَّذِى يَعْلَمُ ٱlsِّrَّ fِى ٱlsَّmَـٰوَٰtِ وَٱlْأَرْضِ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ kَانَ غَفُورًۭa rَّḥīmًۭa
"Say, [O Muhammad], "It has been revealed by He who knows [every] secret within the heavens and the earth. Indeed, He is ever Forgiving and Merciful.""
وَqَالُوا۟ مَا lِhَـٰذَا ٱlrَّsُولِ yَأْkُلُ ٱltَّ`āma wayamshī fī al-aswāqi lawlā unzila ilayhi malakun fayakūna ma`ahu nadhīran
"And they say, "What is this messenger that eats food and walks in the markets? Why was there not sent down to him an angel so he would be with him a warner?"
أَوْ yul'qā ilayhi kanzun aw takūnu lahu jannatun yakulu min'hā waqāla aẓ-ẓālimūna in tattabi`ūna illā rajulan masḥūran
"Or [why is not] a treasure presented to him, or does he [not] have a garden from which he eats?" And the wrongdoers say, "You follow not but a man affected by magic.""
ٱnẓur kayfa ḍarabū laka al-amthāla faḍallū falā yastaṭī`ūna sabīlan
"Look how they present for you examples; but they have gone astray, so they are unable to find a way."
tَبَارَكَ ٱlَّdhī in shā'a ja`ala laka khayran min dhālika jannātin tajrī min taḥtihā al-anhāru wayaj`al laka quṣūran
"Blessed is He who, if He willed, could have made for you [something] better than that - gardens beneath which rivers flow - and could have made for you palaces."
bَلْ kَdhَّbū bis-sā`ati wa-a`tadnā liman kadhaba bis-sā`ati sa`īran
"But they have denied the Hour, and We have prepared for those who deny the Hour a Blaze."
idhā ra-at'hum min makānin ba`īdin sami`ū lahā taghayyuẓan wazafīran
"When Hellfire sees them from a distant place, they will hear its fury and roaring."
wa-idhā ul'qū min'hā makānan ḍayyiqan muqarranīna da`aw hunālika thubūran
"And when they are thrown into a narrow place therein bound in chains, they will cry out thereupon for destruction."
lā tad`ū al-yawma thubūran wāḥidan wa-id`ū thubūran kathīran
"[They will be told], "Do not cry this Day for one destruction but cry for much destruction.""
qul adhālika khayrun am jannatu al-khul'di allatī wu`ida al-muttaqūna kānat lahum jazāan wamaṣīran
"Say, "Is that better or the Garden of Eternity which is promised to the righteous? It will be for them a reward and destination."
lahum fīhā mā yashāūna khālidīna kāna `alá rabbika wa`dan mas'ūlan
"For them therein is whatever they wish, abiding eternally. It is ever upon your Lord a promise requested."
wayawma yaḥshuruhum wamā ya`budūna min dūni Allāhi fayaqūlu a-antum aḍlaltum `ibādī hāulāi am hum ḍallū as-sabīla
"And [mention] the Day He will gather them and that which they worship besides Allah and will say, "Did you mislead My servants, or did they [themselves] stray from the way?""
qālū sub'ḥānaka mā kāna yanbaghī lanā an nattakhidha min dūnika min awliyā'a walākin matta`tahum waābā'ahum ḥattā nasū adh-dhik'ra wakānū qawman būran
"They will say, "Exalted are You! It was not for us to take besides You any allies. But You provided comforts for them and their fathers until they forgot the message and became a people ruined.""
faqad kadhabūkum bimā taqūlūna famā tastaṭī`ūna ṣarfan walā naṣran waman yaẓlim minkum nudhiq'hu `adhāban kabīran
"So they will deny you in what you say, and you will not be able to avert [punishment] or [find] help. And whoever commits injustice among you - We will make him taste a great punishment."
wamā arsalnā qablaka mina al-mur'salīna illā innahum layakulūna aṭ-ṭa`āma wayamshūna fī al-aswāqi waja`alnā ba`ḍakum liba`ḍin fit'natan ataṣbirūna wakāna rabbuka baṣīran
"And We did not send before you, [O Muhammad], any of the messengers except that they ate food and walked in the markets. And We have made some of you [people] as a trial for others - will you have patience? And ever is your Lord, Seeing."
۞ وَqَالَ ٱlَّذِينَ لَا يَرْjُونَ لِqَآءَنَا لَوْlَآ أُنzِلَ عَلَيْنَا ٱlْمَلَـٰٓئِkَةُ أَوْ نَرَىٰ رَبَّnَا ۗ لَقَدِ ٱsْتَkْبَرُوا۟ fِىٓ أَنfُsِهِمْ وَعَتَوْ عُtُwًّۭا kَبِيرًۭا
"And those who do not expect the meeting with Us say, "Why were not angels sent down to us, or [why] do we not see our Lord?" They have certainly been arrogant within themselves and become insolent with great insolence."
يَوْmَ يَرَوْnَ ٱlْمَلَـٰٓئِkَةَ لَا bُشْرَىٰ yَوْmَئِذٍۢ lِّلْمُjْرِمِينَ وَyَقُولُونَ حِjْرًۭa mَّحْjُūrًۭa
"The Day they see the angels - no good tidings will there be that Day for the criminals, and [the angels] will say, "A preventive restriction.""
وَqَدِمْنَآ إِلَىٰ مَا عَmِلُوا۟ مِنْ عَمَلٍۢ fَjَعَلْنَـٰهُ hَبَآءًۭ mَّnثُūrًا
"And We will regard what they have done of deeds and make them as dust dispersed."
أَصْحَـٰbُ ٱlْjَنَّةِ يَوْmَئِذٍ خَيْرٌۭ mُّsْتَقَرًّۭا وَأَحْسَنُ mَقِīlًۭا
"The companions of Paradise, that Day, are better in abode and better in [place of] rest."
وَيَوْmَ tَشَقَّqُ ٱlsَّmَآءُ بِٱlْغَمَـٰmِ وَnُzِّlَ ٱlْمَلَـٰٓئِkَةُ tَنzِīlًا
"And [mention] the Day when the heaven will split open with [white] clouds, and the angels will be sent down in successive descent."
ٱlْمُلْkُ يَوْmَئِذٍ ٱlْحَقُّ lِlrَّḥmāni wakāna yawman `alá al-kāfirīna `asīran
"True sovereignty, that Day, is for the Most Merciful. And it will be upon the disbelievers a difficult Day."
وَيَوْmَ yَ`aḍḍu aẓ-ẓālimu `alá yadayhi yaqūlu yālaytanī ittakhadhtu ma`a ar-rasūli sabīlan
"And the Day the wrongdoer will bite on his hands [in regret] he will say, "Oh, I wish I had taken with the Messenger a way."
yāwaylatā laytanī lam attakhidh fulānan khalīlan
"Oh, woe to me! I wish I had not taken that one as a friend."
laqad aḍallanī `ani adh-dhik'ri ba`da idh jā'anī wakāna ash-shayṭānu lil'insāni khadhūlan
"He led me away from the remembrance after it had come to me. And ever is Satan, to man, a deserter.""
وَqَالَ ٱlrَّsūlu yārabbi inna qawmī ittakhadhū hādhā al-qur'āna mahjūran
"And the Messenger has said, "O my Lord, indeed my people have taken this Qur'an as [a thing] abandoned.""
wakadhālika ja`alnā likulli nabiyyin `aduwwan mina al-muj'rimīna wakafā birabbika hādiyan wanaṣīran
"And thus have We made for every prophet an enemy from among the criminals. But sufficient is your Lord as a guide and a helper."
وَqَالَ ٱlَّdhīna kafarū lawlā nuzzila `alayhi al-qur'ānu jum'latan wāḥidatan kadhālika linuthabbita bihi fu'ādaka warattalnāhu tartīlan
"And those who disbelieve say, "Why was the Qur'an not sent down to him all at once?" Thus [it is] that We may strengthen thereby your heart. And We have spaced it distinctly."
walā yatūnaka bimathalin illā ji'nāka bil-ḥaqqi wa-aḥsana tafsīran
"And they do not come to you with an argument except that We bring you the truth and the best explanation."
alladhīna yuḥ'sharūna `alá wujūhihim ilā jahannama ulāika sharrun makānan wa-aḍallu sabīlan
"The ones who are gathered on their faces to Hell - those are the worst in position and most astray in [their] way."
walaqad ātaynā mūsā al-kitāba waja`alnā ma`ahu akhāhu hārūna wazīran
"And We had certainly given Moses the Scripture and appointed with him his brother Aaron as an assistant."
faqul'nā idh'habā ilā al-qawmi alladhīna kadhabū biāyātinā fadammarnāhum tadmīran
"And We said, "Go both of you to the people who have denied Our signs." Then We destroyed them with [complete] destruction."
waqawma nūḥin lammā kadhabū ar-rusula aghraqnāhum waja`alnāhum lilnnāsi āyatan wa-a`tadnā lilẓẓālimīna `adhāban alīman
"And the people of Noah - when they denied the messengers, We drowned them, and We made them for mankind a sign. And We have prepared for the wrongdoers a painful punishment."
wa`ādan wathamūda wa-aṣḥāba ar-rassi waqurūnan bayna dhālika kathīran
"And [We destroyed] 'Aad and Thamud and the companions of the well and many generations between them."
wakullan ḍarabnā lahu al-amthāla wakullan tabbarnā tatbīran
"And for each We presented examples [as warnings], and each We destroyed with [total] destruction."
walaqad ataw `alá al-qaryati allatī um'ṭirat maṭara as-sawi afalam yakūnū yarawnahā bal kānū lā yarjūna nushūran
"And they have already come upon the city which was showered with a rain of evil. So have they not seen it? But they are not expecting resurrection."
wa-idhā ra-awka in yattakhidhūnaka illā huzuwan ahādhā alladhī ba`atha Allāhu rasūlan
"And when they see you, [O Muhammad], they take you not otherwise than in ridicule, [saying], "Is this the one whom Allah has sent as a messenger?"
in kāda layuḍillunā `an ālihatinā lawlā an ṣabarnā `alayhā wasawfa ya`lamūna ḥīna yarawna al-`adhāba man aḍallu sabīlan
"He almost would have misled us from our gods had we not been steadfast in [worship of] them." But they are going to know, when they see the punishment, who is farthest astray in [his] way."
ara-ayta mani ittakhadha ilāhahu hawāhu afa-anta takūnu `alayhi wakīlan
"Have you seen the one who takes as his god his own desire? Then would you be responsible for him?"
am taḥsabu anna aktharahum yasma`ūna aw ya`qilūna in hum illā kal-an`āmi bal hum aḍallu sabīlan
"Or do you think that most of them hear or reason? They are not except like livestock. Rather, they are [even] more astray in [their] way."
alam tara ilā rabbika kayfa madda aẓ-ẓilla walaw shā'a laja`alahu sākinan thumma ja`alnā ash-shamsa `alayhi dalīlan
"Have you not considered your Lord - how He extends the shadow, and if He willed, He could have made it stationary? Then We made the sun for it an indication."
thumma qabaḍnāhu ilaynā qabḍan yasīran
"Then We an nihilated it toward Us with a gradual annihilation."
wahuwa alladhī ja`ala lakumu al-layla libāsan wan-nawma subātan waja`ala an-nahāra nushūran
"And it is He who has made the night for you as clothing and sleep for rest and has made the day a time of dispersion."
wahuwa alladhī arsala ar-riyāḥa bush'ran bayna yaday raḥmatihi wa-anzalnā mina as-samāi māan ṭahūran
"And it is He who sends the winds as good tidings before His mercy, and We send down from the sky pure water"
linuḥ'yiya bihi baldatan maytan wanus'qiyahu mimmā khalaqnā an`āman wa-anāsiya kathīran
"That We may bring to life thereby a dead land and give it as drink to those We created of numerous livestock and men."
walaqad ṣarrafnāhu baynahum liyadhdhakkarū fa-abā aktharu an-nāsi illā kufūran
"And We have certainly distributed it among them that they might be reminded, but most of the people refuse except disbelief."
walaw shi'nā laba`athnā fī kulli qaryatin nadhīran
"And if We had willed, We could have sent into every city a warner."
falā tuṭi`i al-kāfirīna wajāhid'hum bihi jihādan kabīran
"So do not obey the disbelievers, and strive against them with the Qur'an a great striving."
wahuwa alladhī maraja al-baḥrayni hādhā `adh'bun furātun wahādhā mil'ḥun ujājun waja`ala baynahumā barzakhan waḥij'ran maḥjūran
"And it is He who has released [simultaneously] the two seas, one fresh and sweet and one salty and bitter, and He placed between them a barrier and a partition."
wahuwa alladhī khalaqa mina al-māi basharan faja`alahu nasaban waṣih'ran wakāna rabbuka qadīran
"And it is He who has created from water a human being and made him [a relative by] lineage and marriage. And ever is your Lord competent [concerning creation]."
waya`budūna min dūni Allāhi mā lā yanfa`uhum walā yaḍurruhum wakāna al-kāfiru `alá rabbihi ẓahīran
"But they worship rather than Allah that which does not benefit them or harm them, and the disbeliever is ever, against his Lord, an assistant [to Satan]."
wamā arsalnāka illā mubashshiran wanadhīran
"And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a bringer of good tidings and a warner."
qul mā as-alukum `alayhi min ajrin illā man shā'a an yattakhidha ilā rabbihi sabīlan
"Say, "I do not ask you for it any payment - only that whoever wills might take to his Lord a way.""
watawakkal `alá al-ḥayyi alladhī lā yamūtu wasabbiḥ biḥamdihi wakafā bihi bidhunūbi `ibādihi khabīran
"And rely upon the Ever-Living who does not die, and exalt [Allah] with His praise. And sufficient is He to be, with the sins of His servants, Acquainted -"
alladhī khalaqa as-samāwāti wal-arḍa wamā baynahumā fī sittati ayyāmin thumma is'tawā `alá al-`arshi ar-raḥmānu fas'al bihi khabīran
"He who created the heavens and the earth and what is between them in six days and then established Himself above the Throne - the Most Merciful, so ask about Him one well informed."
wa-idhā qīla lahumu us'judū lilrraḥmāni qālū wamā ar-raḥmānu anasjudu limā tamurunā wazādahum nufūran
"And when it is said to them, "Prostrate to the Most Merciful," they say, "And what is the Most Merciful? Should we prostrate to that which you order us?" And it increases them in aversion."
tabāraka alladhī ja`ala fī as-samāi burūjan waja`ala fīhā sirājan waqamaran munīran
"Blessed is He who has placed in the sky great stars and placed therein a [burning] lamp and luminous moon."
wahuwa alladhī ja`ala al-layla wan-nahāra khil'fatan liman arāda an yadhdhakkara aw arāda shukūran
"And it is He who has made the night and the day in succession for whoever desires to remember or desires gratitude."
wa`ibādu ar-raḥmāni alladhīna yamshūna `alá al-arḍi hawnan wa-idhā khāṭabahumu al-jāhilūna qālū salāman
"And the servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth easily, and when the ignorant address them [harshly], they say [words of] peace,"
walladhīna yabītūna lirabbihim sujjadan waqiyāman
"And those who spend [part of] the night to their Lord prostrating and standing [in prayer]"
walladhīna yaqūlūna rabbanā iṣ'rif `annā `adhāba jahannama inna `adhābahā kāna gharāman
"And those who say, "Our Lord, avert from us the punishment of Hell. Indeed, its punishment is ever adhering;"
innahā sāat mus'taqarran wamuqāman
"Indeed, it is evil as a settlement and residence.""
walladhīna idhā anfaqū lam yus'rifū walam yaqturū wakāna bayna dhālika qawāman
"And [they are] those who, when they spend, are neither extravagant nor niggardly, but hold a medium between that."
walladhīna lā yad`ūna ma`a Allāhi ilāhan ākhara walā yaqtulūna an-nafsa allatī ḥarrama Allāhu illā bil-ḥaqqi walā yaznūna waman yaf`al dhālika yalqa athāman
"And those who do not invoke with Allah another deity or kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed], except by right, and do not commit unlawful sexual intercourse. And whoever should do that will meet a penalty."
yuḍā`af lahu al-`adhābu yawma al-qiyāmati wayakhlud fīhi muhānan
"Multiplied for him is the punishment on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein humiliated -"
illā man tāba waāmana wa`amila `amalan ṣāliḥan fa-ulāika yubaddilu Allāhu sayyiātihim ḥasanātin wakāna Allāhu ghafūran raḥīman
"Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous work. For them Allah will replace their evil deeds with good. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful."
waman tāba wa`amila ṣāliḥan fa-innahu yatūbu ilá Allāhi matāban
"And he who repents and does righteousness does indeed turn to Allah with [accepted] repentance."
walladhīna lā yashhadūna az-zūra wa-idhā marrū bil-laghwi marrū kirāman
"And [they are] those who do not testify to falsehood, and when they pass near ill speech, they pass by with dignity."
walladhīna idhā dhukkirū biāyāti rabbihim lam yakhirrū `alayhā ṣumman wa`um'yānan
"And those who, when they are reminded of the verses of their Lord, do not fall upon them deaf and blind."
walladhīna yaqūlūna rabbanā hab lanā min azwājinā wadhurriyyātinā qurrata a`yunin wa-ij`alnā lil'muttaqīna imāman
"And those who say, "Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous.""
ulāika yuj'zawna al-ghurfata bimā ṣabarū wayulaqqawna fīhā taḥiyyatan wasalāman
"Those will be awarded the Chamber for what they patiently endured, and they will be received therein with greetings and [words of] peace."
khālidīna fīhā ḥasunat mus'taqarran wamuqāman
"Abiding eternally therein. Good is the settlement and residence."
qul mā ya`ba'u bikum rabbī lawlā du`āukum faqad kadhabtum fasawfa yakūnu lizāman
"Say, "What would my Lord care for you if not for your supplication?" For you [disbelievers] have denied, so your punishment is going to be inseparable."
